We Did It!

As everyone knows, Carnival Day is officially over and everyone should definitely get back to their studies since exams are just around the corner! Though before that, a little update from us to you, about our recent Carnival Day!

As you all know, we held and hosted Bon Odori  / Yukata Experience as well as a Cosplay Cafe, which included a Sushi bar and Okonomiyaki station. The Japan Cultural Club can proudly say that we have earned a total of RM3229 in total of only one day's work.

Besides that, our President, Mr. Tay Cheen Chean Li went ahead and even requested for reporters to be there and alas, we have managed to get the club and also the school onto the Star newspaper!  Click to view the article!

We thank those who have shown support and helped the club out. We definitely appreciate all the time and effort everyone has given in for the club its self. Thank you all for your love and support for this club!

21/4/2011 Club Activity // NO ACTIVITY NEXT WEEK.

Did everyone enjoy today's activity?

Origami was the main plan for today's activity. Have you heard of the story that if you made 1000 cranes, and made a wish, your wish might come true? That was the whole point of today's activity. To achieve the 1000 cranes goal and make a wish. To wish for the safety for Japan.

Anyways, we really did hope everyone enjoyed the activity that was held today and we hopethat you'll come for the next club activity. Please be noted that Japan Cultural Club follows the school takwim.

Meaning, that WON'T be any activity next week, on the 21st of April.

Thank you for everyone's kind cooperation and keep those spirits high!

9th of April // Happy Earth Day

Today, the 9th of April was Earth Day in SMK Seafield, it was also exhibition day for us, board members and I dare say that it was a huge success. Mock cheque and the exhibition, all prepared and done nicely.

We passed the mock cheque to the representative of JAGAM during the assembly. We had collected a grand total of RM5,500 which is equivalent to 154,260.30JPY.

The exhibition was nicely prepared and the board members were on stand by, ready to answer any questions that were thrown at them. Besides that, that were a few videos played in compensation of Earth Day. For example, videos conducted by Alam Flora SDN. BHD, processes of recyclables being recycled and finally, the slide show and videos concerning the situation and devastation of Japan. JCC was quite sure that the slideshow especially, had touched a few hearts when it was played. Big or small.

We finished on time as well and then packed up as everyone left. We hope you had enjoyed the exhibition as much as we did.

Open to Ideas

We all know that every single one of the members of the JCC are very brilliant and filled with ideas! So why not share them with us? Carnival Day will be on the 17th of July and the headmistress would give us the whole hall, Dewan Seri Kenangan, if we can come up with amazing events to host there.

"17th July, still so long lah!"

Early planning is never wrong. Plus! Our President had decided to get funding from certain places so we have to come up and make decisions on what we shall do during Carnival Day very soon. The better the idea, the more determined we are, then the more funds we might get. Also, don't you think it would be fun if your idea was chosen? Then you can bring your friends along too and just have an amazing time on Carnival Day.

We are accepting any ideas at all. Categorized as food, events, games, whichever, we want it. So, please make sure that when you do actually submit an idea, you know the requirements, where to get the requirements, a short description of the idea so we have an image about it and also the budget. Form as followed :

Let's Help Japan!

As all of you should know, Japan was hit by an earthquake which led to a tsunami and now the radiations in Japan are causing quite some damage.

Being the Japan Cultural Club, we obviously thought of helping the beloved country out. That's why you've been seeing board members running around the school, going to classes, asking for donations. Our donation drive will be going on, all the way until this Saturday. So, those who would like to help Japan out, please bring some extra pocket money! To both morning and afternoon sessions!

We've been collecting for the past 2 weeks so far and the numbers are slowly rising. Our goal is to hit around RM10,000 in total, hopefully by the end of this week and we really do hope we can reach our goal!

"A thousand faces, a thousand personalities, yet united by one interest."

We are united and if we work hard enough, together, I'm sure we can achieve our goal! So let's work hard and do our very best to help Japan!

Logo & Uniform Competition [CHOSEN]

On the 6th of April was the final day to submit your entries for the uniform and logo designing competition.

Thank you everyone for the amazing entries for the uniform and logo designing competition for the Japan Cultural Club. We had a hard time choosing between each and everyone's entries. The board members in charged definitely took every single entry into consideration. But alas, not everyone could be the winner.

We have finally chosen the design we would have as the club's uniform. For both male and female members, board members and the club's members. We made sure to have the uniforms altered to be "Malaysia Friendly" so everyone need not worry.

Sneak peek of the uniform on the next club activity, maybe?

Thank you once again for the amazing entires. We high appreciate you time, effort and imagination you had put into designing it.

1st Official Meeting! (Or the so-called AGM)

1st Meeting had been held at 3Ilmu on the 31st of March. As this meeting is not originally planned to be held, activities had been planned the very last minute (LITERALLY). Fortunately, due to smart brains of ours (LOL), we came up with an "Aishiteru" game. Introduction of BOD members had also been held. President Tay had also launch a competition of Logo & Club uniform designing. Members had also been told of our agendas for this whole year to know what to expect. After 45 minutes of blablabla-ing, members had been divided into 2 groups to play the "Aishiteru" game. I must say that although it was quite awkward on the beginning, a few punishments is all it takes to hyper up the members. Also, i will never forget the scene where Juliet acted as the maid. It was more than i could take! *ROFL* As a conclusion, i think it's a great 1st meeting and a better start for our one and only Japan Cultural Club! xD Everybody, give yourself a round of applause!

Aishiteru~~~

Conservation of the Enviroment

As many of you know, Japan was hit by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake then followed by a tsunami. We thought that the tragedy of Japan would end afterwards but I guess mother nature begged to differ. Because of the natural disasters that occurred, the nuclear power plants in Fukushima, Japan was damaged seriously. It has been told that the radiation leaks from the nuclear power plants are dangerous.

We, as the Japan Cultural Club, would be participating in the exhibition called "Program Bestari" organized by our school to teach people and give people a better understanding of the crisis that is going on in Japan. Mainly, the radiation leaks.

Date : 9th April 2011
Venue : SMK Seafield Library
Theme : Conservation of the Environment

From the exhibition, members of the Japan Cultural Club would be educating students of SMK Seafield about :
- factors causing the radiation leaks
- effects of radiation
- steps taken by the authorities to overcome it
- the current radiation levels.
- timeline of the radiation levels

We hope to educate the students and also spread the love of Japan throughout the student body.
